Thumb Rule: If your Basic pay is 5000 Then Gross salary is 20000.

What is the Fitment factor in 7th cpc?
The fitment factor is the number that will be equally multiplied by the pay matrix’s basics in each row. For the 7th Central Pay Commission, the current basic pay of central government employees, which is the sum of the pay scale and the grade pay, will be multiplied by the new fitment factor. The fitment factor for this central pay commission would be a pay hike of around 2.57 times for employees and pensioners. This means that all central government employees and retirees’ basic salaries will be multiplied by the fitment factor of 2.57

Basic pay and grade pay are two different things…grade pay is not the part of basic pay... On every promotion, the GP
changes to the higher one within
the same ‘Pay Band’ or a higher
Pay Band. Annual Increment is
decided as 3% of ‘ Pay’ + GP and
is added to ‘Pay’. There are 4 pay bands,
5200-20000, 9300-34000,
15600-39000, 37400-67000.
As several posts are included in
each pay band, different grade
pay is allowed depending on the
status in hierarchy.
Calculate salary from basic pay and grade pay
Suppose my basic pay is 15600- 36900 and grade pay is 5400
This means that at any given time my basic pay will be fixed between this. In the starting year of joining it is 15600 and after increment it become 16230 and after next increment it becomes 16800 and so on.
Now the grade pay is added to this basic pay and dearness allowance to make the salary in hand. DA is different for every state government. Suppose it is 25000
Monthly salary = basic pay + gradepay + DA
= 15600+ 5400+25000
= 46,000 Rs
